    ABP, The Telegraph, Kolkata, Careergraph Thursday, September 13, 2007 "The main aim is to give hands on experience and industry exposure to students", says the dean and professor, Aleksandra R. Rose. The institute's two-year twinning programme in retail leads to a masters in business administration (MBA) in retail along with an international diploma in retail design. The MBA is offered in association with Universal College, Bangalore. The faculty who teach this twinning programme are well-known professionals who understand the needs of the industry and teach their students accordingly. Students interested in joining the institute have to clear the NICC entrance exam. Apart from the twinning programme in retail, the institute also offers a three-year twinning programme that leads to a UGC-recognised BSc Visual Communication and an international professional diploma in design. The major advantage enjoyed by NICC graduates is that they are eligible for direct entry to masters programmes at eminent global institutions. NICC was the official design studio for the FORUM SHOPPING FESTIVAL, the gala event held at the Forum shopping mall in Bangalore in 2006. Postgraduate students of the college were responsible for the print and radio campaign, event coverage, photography and mall decoration at Forum. "Students who join the retail twinning programme at NICC get an internship with the Forum Mall," says Mr.Neeraj Duggal, vice-president, retail, for Prestige Group, Forum Mall.     • MBA Programme in Retail Launched

      Thursday, Aug 02, 2007: THE NATIONAL Institute of Creative Communication (NICC) has launched an MBA programme in retail and an International Diploma course in Retail Design. The courses are designed to respond to the dearth of qualified manpower in the booming retail industry. The two-year MBA programme is coupled with the international diploma in design. The course features live projects, and is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). According to NICC, the Institute will offer placement assistance to the students through strong industry tie-ups. Dr Akash Rose, founder of NICC said: “The retail industry in India is booming and there is a dearth of qualified manpower. It is our aim at NICC to produce world-class professionals.       • NICC BECOMES KARNATAKA'S CANON PRO CENTRE

        August, 2008: NICC accepted an agreement proposal with Canon India, to establish NICC as the official Canon Pro Centre in Karnataka. This exclusive, prestigeous collaboration is, till date, extended only to four other institutions in India. The inauguration ceremony held on August 2nd 2008, was honoured by the presence of Mr. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India, accompanied by Mr. Shunichi Senda, Director - Image Communication Product, Canon India. Upon this, NICC launched a series of Canon-Edge Workshops, Pro-level and Skill-enhancement Photography certificate courses, with the objective of promoting NICC and Canon as a united front in the world of professional Photography in India. Through this collaboration, students of NICC's Graduate and Postgraduate Programs also enjoy a spectrum of benefits extended by Canon India.

        • NICC collaborates with Canon

          April, 2008 On Saturday, 19th April, Canon organised an interactive Photography Workshop at the NICC campus. About 30 Photography enthusiasts attended the workshop and expressed appreciation of the high quality of instruction delivered during the marathon 6-hour session. (The workshop was was extended from three hours to six by 'popular demand'!).Canon has expressed the intention of establishing an ongoing relationship with NICC, and meetings with senior Canon management are scheduled in this connection during the coming week.
          • SKC Retail Design Project Completed by NICC

            Feb, 2009 The Retail Design project for a 15,000 square feet showroom in Koramangala, Bangalore, of the SKC Group, was realised by NICC students, under the guidance of NICC Faculty. The showroom is spread over five floors, each with a different theme and ambience - according to apparel styles of SKC. NICC students worked on all aspects of Retail Design including Aesthetic Visualisation (with 3d walk-through presentations), Merchandise Distribution Processes and Storage, Visual Merchandising, design solutions for SKC sub-branding, Advertising strategies and design... The design developed by NICC will be replicated in SKC outlets nation-wide.
            • Red Pack at NICC Campus

              March, 2009 Delegates of an internationally famous packaging design studio - Red Pack, Germany, visited the NICC Campus in October 2007. Red Pack is responsible for many packaging design solutions for international brands such as Nestle, Craft, Ferrero Roche etc. The visit agenda was to explore collaboration between the two organisations.
              • Forum Mall and NICC Continue Collaboration

                October, 2009 Since last year's Forum Shopping Festival NICC and Forum Mall have been working together on various projects. One of them was re-designing the Customer Care staff uniforms. The new uniforms incorporate subtle refinement and a distinct corporate style. Forum Mall Bangalore also organised a range of Christmas and New Year festivities, including a drawing contest for children, for which NICC faculty acted as the judging panel. All funds raised were contributed to charity, and NICC designed all advertising material for this occasion. Apart from this, throughout the year, NICC students interacted with Forum Mall on projects for various promotional activities ..these projects provide a priceless platform for early exposure to the business of Advertising and Design.
                • NICC Invited by MOTOROLA

                  November 2009 The Motorola R and D Labs, Bangalore invited NICC to participate in research projects on the concept of "Seamless Mobility". This activity would generate new insights in developing technologies which can integrate technical, ergonomic and aesthetic design for the next generation of electronic communication devices.
